Greg has continued his fight to help secure the latest medicines for sufferers of cystic fibrosis by giving his backing to a cross-party campaign aiming to obtain access to the drug Orkambi for the NHS in England.
In a joint letter addressed to the Chairman of Vertex Pharmaceuticals, 117 MPs from all parties in the House of Commons say they are "so concerned by the lack of progress" in the company's ability to strike a supply deal with the NHS, that they are calling on the Government to consider taking "whatever means necessary" to ensure there is a supply of the most up to date CF drugs.
Greg has met frequently with constituents who suffer from CF and their families who have told him about the distress Vertex is causing through its unwillingness to negotiate on its price of more than £100,000 per patient per year for Orkambi. He has taken a lead in pushing for a solution to be found, whether it is through ongoing negotiation, applying the “Crown use” law or through an investigation by the Competition Markets Authority.
