Chairman of Rusthall Parish Council, Jenny Blackburn, asked for Greg's help to get an underground spring at the junction of Lower Green Road and Rusthall Road sorted out. The water seeps up continually in the middle of the road and she was concerned that it might turn into black ice during a cold winter which would be extremely dangerous.
Greg asked Kent Highways to do something about it and they agreed to carry out improvement works in the Autumn.
Greg commented:
"After the period of extremely high rainfall earlier this year which caused flooding in many areas of Kent, I wrote to all the Parish Councils in my constituency to ask whether they had experienced any problems with localised flooding due to blockages in the highways drains.
"Jenny Blackburn, Chairman of Rusthall Parish Council, came back to me to say that she was very concerned about this underground spring which seeps up in the middle of the road – it could turn into black ice if next winter is very cold. This could obviously be very dangerous so I immediately contacted Kent Highways to see what could be done about this and I am delighted that they have agreed to carry out works this Autumn to ensure the water from the spring is piped away from the road."
