Greg is supporting a local campaign to build two new pedestrian crossings in Tunbridge Wells – one near the car-park on Major York's Road and the other on the A264 Langton Road, close to St Paul's Church.
A petition with over 1,000 signatures was submitted to the Joint Transportation Board (JTB) in July which decides what highways projects will be submitted to Kent County Council (KCC) for funding. Greg wrote to the Chairman of the JTB in support of this petition.
The JTB agreed to put the two schemes forward to KCC and Greg has written to its Cabinet Member for Highways, David Brazier, to emphasise the strength of community support for them.
Greg said:
"Both Major York's Road and Langton Road are extremely busy so safe pedestrian crossings would be a real boon. I very much hope that Kent County Council decides to agree to the funding which will enable the designs for the crossings to be undertaken in the next financial year – it would be a major step forward."
