Greg met with the new Chief Executive of the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb), Philip Astle, at the organisation’s Make Ready Centre in Paddock Wood today.
The Trust’s chairman, David Astley, also attended the meeting, where Greg raised on behalf of particular constituents concerns about delays in the attendance at some incidents.
Greg sought to ensure that lessons have been learned and procedures changed to prevent mistakes being repeated. Mr Astle also explained the measures SECAmb has been undertaking to improve its overall performance following several years in which its performance was not satisfactory.
Speaking following the meeting Greg said: “The staff of our Ambulance Service do a hard job with great dedication and compassion and we all benefit from their professionalism. But the organisation that employs them has experienced several years of difficulty and I am pleased that action is being taken to address these concerns.
“My constituents deserve to have the peace of mind that in an emergency an ambulance will be dispatched to help them efficiently and reliably and I will look to see recent progress in performance continue."
