Greg met with the Chief Executive of Kent & Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT), Helen Greatorex, to talk about local adult mental health services.
He was pleased to hear that the Care Quality Commission has recently rated 8 out of 10 of their services as either Good or Outstanding which is a big improvement. Two years ago KMPT was rated as Requires Improvement.
Greg commented:
"For too long, our local adult mental health service has been unsatisfactory so it's great that things are now improving.
"I was really pleased to hear about the Trust's new initiatives such as providing a new primary care service in GP surgeries, running Saturday morning clinics and working more closely with the police and other emergency services to help people in crisis.
"However, there is still some way to go and I will continue to take a close interest to ensure that mental health patients start to receive the same level of service as someone with a physical health problem."
