Greg met with Robert Light, the head commissioner of the recently created Independent Commission on Civil Aviation Noise (ICCAN) in Parliament today to discuss what steps are being taken to alleviate the impact of aircraft noise from Gatwick on his constituents.
ICCAN has been set up with the view of providing independent, impartial advice to government, regulators and the UK aviation industry on the issue of aircraft noise and its impact on local communities.
Commenting on the meeting, Greg said: "Although it is early days for ICCAN I am encouraged by the scope of its remit and the enthusiasm of its head commissioner, Robert Light, to champion the cause of communities which are adversely impacted by aircraft noise.
“Local residents are fed up with the continuing blight of aircraft noise from Gatwick and I look to Mr Light to help bring relief to my constituents through their advise to the department for transport, the Civil Aviation Authority and the National Air Traffic Services."
