Greg attended the launch of a new action group, The Friends of Tunbridge Wells Cemetery, who are aiming to try and return the site back to its former glory, as well as recording the gravestones and researching the lives of those buried there.
During the event, Greg laid a posy of flowers on the grave of Victorian surveyor and engineer, William Brentnall, who was in charge of installing Tunbridge Wells' water and drainage system.
Greg said:
"Hawkenbury Cemetery is full of fascinating history and beautiful sculptures. Some of the town's best known luminaries are buried here and it's also home to many plants and other wildlife. Along with Woodbury Park Cemetery, it is an important part of our heritage and I am delighted that a new Friends Group has been set up to help conserve and enhance it so that many more people can enjoy this charming site."
