In 2012, Greg learnt that although post-mortem facilities were installed in the new Tunbridge Wells Hospital, the NHS Trust had decided not to re-apply for a licence to enable them to be used. This meant that bereaved families had to cope with the additional worry and financial burden of transporting their loved ones' bodies from Greenwich.

Greg has been pressing both the hospital and the Coroner's Office to get the service returned to Tunbridge Wells and this has now been agreed. The new 5-year contract will begin on 1 April 2014.

Greg commented:

"When I heard that bereaved families had to go through the stress and expense of collecting the bodies of their loved ones from Greenwich after a post-mortem, I was absolutely determined to try and find a way of bringing the service back to Tunbridge Wells.

"It was a difficult campaign with many complex contractual and licensing issues to be resolved but I managed to persuade Kent Coroners Service and Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust to work together to reach an agreement. I am absolutely delighted that the new service will be up and running in Tunbridge Wells Hospital in a few weeks time."
