Train Chaos: Greg Urges Focus on Southeastern Failings

Greg has called for immediate improvements in the performance of rail operator Southeastern, with the franchising process for the troubled network now only a couple of months away. Greg formed a Rail Action Group of concerned rail users to feed into the franchising process, and has now asked for a meeting with the Secretary of State for Transport, Chris Grayling, to discuss Southeastern's performance.

Greg said:

"This is an important time for rail services in the Tunbridge Wells area – the most important opportunity for a decade to say what sort of service we want and what improvements need to be made. I therefore intend to press a broad range of requirements on Chris Grayling: from punctuality and communications failings, to the high fares we pay for what is an underperforming service.

"With the public consultation likely to start by the end of the year I would encourage all rail users to make sure their voices are heard. I am also very pleased that the Rail Minister, Paul Maynard, has already said he will welcome my Rail Action Group's contribution to the consultation process."
